Book an authentic fine wine experience of PLATTER’S 5-Star wines at the Cellars-Hohenort

Platter’s Wine Guide 5-Star tasting is proudly presented by Wine Village Hermanus on Thursday 28 October 2021 at 17:30.

Wine Village Hermanus and Platter’s Wine Guide are presenting a series of 5-Star tastings at The Liz McGrath Collection, Hermanus and Cape Town. Focusing on the finest of South African winemaking, these tastings offer a rare opportunity to experience several curated tastings from the 2021 Platter’s 5-star wine guide.

The aim is to bring to light these rare and magnificent wines and celebrate the 5-star rated accolade it received, thus generating awareness of the producer and the upcoming vintages. The South African wine events calendar desperately

needs a kick-start, and we feel this is the perfect vehicle.

Envisioning a series of events presented by distinguished independent persons from the wine industry, each evening will exclusively serve 5-Star wines from 2021 Platter’s Collection.

The winemaker/owner of each wine will have the opportunity to present their wine and answer follow-on questions from the audience. an excellent opportunity to bring depth and background to the tastings. Canapés and 2021 Platter’s 5-star wines are to be served afterwards in a social format.

These multi-faceted tastings aim to present these rare wines as a formal yet relaxed and interactive event to wine lovers. Unfortunately, the pandemic regrettably curtailed the scope of the envisaged presentations. Still, we are pleased to say that there is now the opportunity to move forward in partnership with Platter’s Wine Guide, Wine Village Hermanus - headed by Paul and Cathy du Toit, and the event host, The Liz McGrath Collection.

The venues: The Marine Hotel, Hermanus, and The Cellars-Hohenort, Constantia, both from The Liz McGrath Collection, have been secured to host these exclusive tastings.

The first tasting was held on 25 September 2021 at The Marine Hermanus. It was an enormous success with guests travelling from far and wide to attend. The guest speaker, Emile Joubert of Media Vision, entertained the guest on the history of South Africa’s wine industry, the importance of supporting the local wine industry and how significant and essential the Platter’s Wine Guide was to express our wines to a global community of wine lovers.

The tasting was concluded with the first of four Rare Wine Auctions. 20 Lots of wines were on auction and allowed guests to acquire rare Platter’s Wine Guide 5-Star wines and at the same time raise funds for the Pebbles Project (www.pebblesproject.org). This project aims to educate and enrich children of the Winelands farming communities.

These rare wines are exclusively available through auction and make an elegant addition to any private collector.
